While ordinary pillow fights have existed for a long time, these events are massive in scale, occur in public and are promoted primarily via the Internet.

This year's theme was Rabbits. Bunny ears, bunny tails, plastic eggs.
The annual event, which started in 2008, had fights planned in 115 cities in 39 different countries with volunteers organising the event through social-networking sites.
